Maintenance Electronic / Control Technician

Summary of Duties:

Install and repair electrical equipment and circuits within an industrial manufacturing facility. Individual will be required to troubleshoot and diagnose problems, dismantle equipment, replace or repair defective parts, reassemble equipment, and make necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation. Equipment worked on includes but is not limited to PLC, VFD, CNC, relays, motor starters, power supplies, switches, sensors, transducers, solenoids, and electronic safety guards. Person will be required to perform preventive maintenance on all equipment.

Required Skills And Characteristics:

  • Formal training in electrical theory, basic electronics, digital logic circuitry, and PLC.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and use electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to logically and systematically solve problems.
  • Ability to work neatly, be well organized, and attentive to details.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with others.
  • Ability to self-start and work with minimal or no supervision at times.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Functional computer skills.

Additional Responsibilities:

Person may occasionally make replacement parts and may be required to perform or assist with mechanical work on production equipment and buildings.  

Education / Experience:

  • Associates degree or certificate in an electronic or electrical course of study.
  • 2+ years experience working in a discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in other trade fields such as plumbing, carpentry, machining, and welding.
  • Experience or training in CNC, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.

Working Conditions:

Position could involve standing on your feet for 8+ hours a day, working in temperatures of 90+ degrees during a scheduled workday (during seasonal changes in weather), and, at times, lifting weights of 50 to 70 pounds. Position requires a high level of energy and regular, consistent attendance. Position could involve working indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical/moving parts hazards, dust, dirt, odors, and irritants. Position requires exposure to high noise levels. Position could involve kneeling, lifting, crouching, bending, pulling, pushing, and twisting the upper body.
