Summary of Duties:

Responsible to assist the Production supervisor in the daily operations of their respective departments; and to work in the departments when necessary. Help to assure that a safe, efficient, and quality work environment is implemented and maintained to achieve customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and the prevention of failures.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Interaction with Supervisors and co-workers as needed.
  • Ability to work as a team member towards overall Company objectives.
  • Must wear proper PPE equipment in all designated areas.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work as a member of a team when needed.
  • Daily responsibility to ensure the safe and timely production of scheduled shop orders by effectively utilizing the manufacturing associates, equipment, and material flows.
  • Enforce ATS policies, procedures and guidelines on the shop floor.
  • Assist the supervisor in the evaluation and discipline of manufacturing associates by applying the ATS employee guidelines.
  • Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions specifically with respect to primary duties and throughout the facility.
  • Regularly conduct training and line flow meetings with associates and compiles training opportunities. Train associates to QSP’s, work instructions, preventive maintenance, control plans and safety practices.
  • Communicate daily all relevant information to alternate shift Supervisors and Team Leaders.
  • Manage daily the flow of material to/from/within the department through the ‘kitters’ (material handling).
  • Assure the accurate reporting of production information: Production Reports, Scrap, Check Sheets, Down Time Data, Associate Job Transfers, etc.
  • Assists in setting up equipment and assuring quality operations.
  • Enter maintenance work orders in to the MP2 Maintenance Software system and interface with Maintenance personnel to coordinate Maintenance activities with production requirements.
  • Actively participate with the entire Operations Team to support and implement initiatives.
  • Direct manufacturing associates to maintain a clean working environment; assure clean equipment, painted floors/aisles, open aisles and good housekeeping practices.
  • Assist in Corrective Action Request responses and seeking out root cause solutions.
  • Operates equipment, up to 80% overall, to maintain the flow of work when necessary.
  • Assures that material from ‘controlled stores’ is readily available to the work stations in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in scheduling vacation and ESL time to assure that production schedules are met. Review and approve daily attendance records.
  • Act as a certified First Responder when so trained.
  • Apply QS-9000 system procedures and assure compliance; act as a Quality System Internal Auditor when so trained.
  • Will be involved in the review process from the point of evaluating performance and what the employee may need to improve on, etc.

Required Experience / Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment and the ability to read blueprints.
  • Must be able to learn GD&T.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication equipment and processes (stamping, forming, welding/brazing and painting).

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Temperature periodically exceeds 90 degrees. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Welding operations require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; welding helmet, welding jacket or sleeves, welding apron, eye safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe shoes.
